The Download Version: Introduction to the Biomes Curriculum–Elementary is the perfect place to begin biome studies by looking at the parts of a biome: energy from the Sun, soil, air, water, plants, and animals. With the addition of the online curriculum guide, each part can be explored with nomenclature, hands-on activities, movement, drama, and art.
Introduction to the Biome Cards provide a lesson on the eight different biomes used throughout the Waseca Biomes Curriculum: Temperate Forest, Tropical Forest, Wetlands, Grasslands, Mountains, Deserts, Polar Regions, and Ocean.
This set also includes three-part cards for the Parts of a Biome, Parts of the Globe, Layers of the Soil, Parts of the Soil, Carbon Cycle, and Nitrogen Cycle. Nomenclature cards for the five classes of vertebrates, an invertebrate, and a plant are a part of this set as well. Additionally, the elementary set also includes our Animal Adaptation Cards and Biome Q&A. As always, both masters to make booklets for children to label and color and masters for additional, teacher-made materials are available for download in the A–Z PDF library here on our website.
Our elementary cards are written on a higher reading level than the primary cards. Elementary cards do not include the primary set’s larger control card; this introduces a new level of difficulty, as the definition must be matched both to the picture and the label. Cards print double-sided and are coded on the back for self-checking.
